Dr. Sheri Gaines, MD - Staff Psychiatrist

Dr. Sheri Gaines, MDDr. Sheri Gaines received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin. She then went to the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where she received her Medical Degree. Following that, she completed residency in psychiatry and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UT Houston where she served as Chief Resident. She is Board Certified in adult, adolescent, and child psychiatry.

Dr. Gaines has presented locally and nationally on a variety of topics including ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Psychopharmacology, and Commitment of Sexually Violent Predators. She has over ten years experience as a forensic expert witness. She currently serves on the Speaker's Bureau for Forrest Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Gaines has worked in a variety of clinical settings including private practice, public health, correctional care, hospitals, and residential treatment centers. She has over ten years experience with diagnosing and treating seniors, adults, adolescents, and children with a variety of diagnoses specializing in working with people previously unresponsive to treatment by emphasizing education about symptoms, medication, and other treatment modalities. She has had the opportunity to work in many settings that utilize a multidisciplinary treatment approach.

Dr. Valerie Sive-Ramirez, PhD - Psicóloga de Personal Planta

Dr. Valerie Sive-Ramirez is a licensed psychologist with specialized training in neuropsychology and is credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. She graduated from USD with an undergraduate degree in psychology and Master of Arts degree in marriage and family therapy. She holds a Doctorate degree in psychology from USF. She completed post-doctorate training in Clinical Neuropsychology from Fielding Graduate Institute. She also completed two years post-doctoral training in rehabilitation neuropsychology.

Dr. Sive-Ramirez has worked in various clinical settings including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, residential treatment centers, schools, and outpatient centers. She also has conducted in-home neuropsychological assessments and treatments. She worked on a brain injury unit and has extensive experience working in multidisciplinary environments providing assessment, diagnosis, case management and psychotherapy services to seniors, adults, adolescents and children with diverse backgrounds. In addition to her clinical experience, she worked in a research setting providing advice and performance of neuropsychological assessments to evaluate the potential of a computer-based training program to enhance cognitive performance in older adults.

Dr. Michelle Garcia-Thomas, PsyD - Psicóloga de Personal Planta

Michelle Garcia-Thomas is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. She received her Bachelors Degree from Florida State University, and her Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. Michelle has obtained extensive experience through a broad variety of settings and have worked as part of many interdisciplinary teams with a wide multitude of agencies.

Over the years, Michelle has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with diverse diagnoses and treatment needs. She has provided behavioral supports for people diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders in their homes, school, and work environments. She has also conducted psychological and neuropsychological assessment at a Veterans Administration Medical Center to provide treatment as well as for diagnostic impressions, at a psychiatric facility to coordinate medication trials, and through contracts with state mental health and developmental disabilities offices in order to assist with eligibility and treatment planning. She conducted individual and group therapy at a Veterans Administration Medical Center, community counseling facility, in schools, at a community mental health center, and at an inpatient eating disorder facility. Furthermore, she has worked with athletes on performance and other issues in a university setting.

Michelle has also conducted numerous presentations, workshops, and seminars on a large spectrum of topics.
